Ladakh is where the Indus is young. Leh, the capital of Ladakh is the farthest green patch across the river. From across the Indus, Leh looks like a small meadow. The Indus River is the backbone of Ladakh and most of the towns in the region are situated close to the river. The stretch of the Indus flowing through Ladakh is the only part of the river, which is greatly venerated in the Hindu religion and mythology, which still flows through India.
